In 1946, Douglas Ferguson and his wife, Ruth, founded Pigeon Forge Pottery in an old tobacco barn, where craftsmen turned balls of the area’s clay soil into works of art. The couple built the home that’s now the Pottery House Cafe in 1954 and continued selling pottery until 1999.

The gardens are open Tuesday through Sunday from 9am to 4pm. The Old Mill was awarded a Level I Accreditation for achieving particular standards of professional practices deemed important for arboreta and botanic gardens.
